New Doughnut Flavors

Since I wasn’t able to get a Carrot Cake Doughnut (last entry) I decided to try the other new flavors they have in store. I got a Tres Leches Cake Doughnut and a Marzipan Nutcracker Cake Doughnut.

The Tres Leches Cake Doughnut is a butter cake soaked in three types of milk (evaporated, condensed and heavy cream) giving it a subtly sweet flavor without overdoing it. You can really taste the condensed milk on it. The cake is soft and fluffy with a tunnel of light creme. It was really good.

As for the Marzipan Nutcracker Cake Doughnut it was made especially for the Christmas holiday. It was a bit too sweet for me. There was a red and green line of frosting to give it the holiday spirit. Red was cherry and I think the green was lime. The whitish chunk and specks of crumbs on the doughnut was marzipan (aka almond paste). The marzipan was slightly too sweet for me. The cake doughnut itself was soft and fluffy like all cake doughnuts at Doughnut Plant. A perfect breakfast/dessert for everyone!
